The Radio Control Lasers have been sailing now from Rodd Point for little over 2 years. The fleet has now built to a total of 8 regular sailors.

The RC Laser is hard to beat as a Radio Control One Design class as every boat is factory manufactured under licence as is the full sized Laser dinghy.  As the advertising slogan states, “from bag to sailing in minutes”. The boat is ready to race straight out of its uniquely designed sailing bag.

rclasermain.jpg The full sailing kit includes two masts & three sails that enable you to sail the boat in everything from light winds to quite strong breezes.

Several of our members are ex: Dobroyd Aquatic dinghy sailors, Merv Somers for instance was last a member of the Dobroyd Aquatic Club in the 1940’s. As the boats are easily set-up to sail it enables sailors that can no longer sail full sized boats to continue to sail in a competitive manner.  In Europe many full size sailors sail Radio Control yachts in Winter months to enable them to continue to sail competitively regardless of the cold weather.

The Dobroyd RC Laser group sails every second Sunday, ALL Dobroyd Aqautic members are always welcome to have a sail with us as we generally have loan boats on hand.
